Maybe something is actually going to happen in the New York State Senate? Thomas DiNapoli, the state comptroller has said basically, "no work? No pay." With a bit of nudging from the governor (go, Paterson!). Also, no travel vouchers. His office is sitting on some 250 travel vouchers that total $560,000. $560,000! And don't worry (if you were), they'll get their money when they, you know, actually work. At least they are all on the same page about something. They're going to sue for their money (
NYT). Personally, with the way they're behaving? I wouldn't be all that troubled if they lost a paycheck or two. In all seriousness, why should you be paid if you haven't done the work?
Speaking of state senators,
Stephen posted a
Colbert Report video about a Missouri state senator, Cynthia Davis. She apparently So, I guess she's never seen the reports about how some children get their only meal of the day at school? Or are the lunches going to be merit based? Get an A. Get lunch. Get a B. Get bupkus? She's lovely, no?
